Decision intelligence consulting
We help you decide which business decisions to automate, how AI should be involved, and how every outcome will be explained to customers, auditors and your own staff.
What it means in practice
Your business makes the same kinds of decisions thousands or millions of times a day: who qualifies, what price applies, which offer to make, whether a claim is paid. Decision intelligence makes those decisions explicit, so they can be automated, tested and improved like any other product.
We start with the decisions that carry the most money or risk. For each one we work out what information it needs, which parts are firm policy, which parts are predictions, and where a person still needs to be involved. Then we design a decision service that does exactly that, and nothing it cannot explain.
What we deliver
Decision discovery and inventory
A map of your key decisions, where their logic lives today and what each one is worth.
Decision modeling
DMN models, decision tables and rule flows that business owners can read and approve.
Hybrid AI decision services
Rules for policy, machine learning for prediction, and language models for documents and conversation, combined in one governed service.
Explainability and audit
Every outcome traced to its rules and data, with plain-language reasons generated for customers and reviewers.
AI-assisted rule authoring
Assistants that answer questions about your rule repository, draft rule changes and generate test cases for review.
Simulation and monitoring
Test proposed changes against real historical cases before release, then watch outcomes in production.
Why rules still matter when you add AI
Language models are good with language and unreliable with consistency. Prices, eligibility and compliance need the same answer every time, for reasons you can show a regulator. So we keep that logic in governed rules and use AI around it: to read documents, to explain outcomes, to suggest rule changes and to find gaps and conflicts.
The result is AI you can put in front of customers without hoping it behaves.
Questions we hear often
What is decision intelligence?
Decision intelligence is the practice of treating business decisions as assets you can design, automate, measure and improve. It combines business rules, analytics and AI so that each decision is made consistently and can be explained afterwards.
How is decision intelligence different from business rules management?
Business rules management is one part of it. Decision intelligence starts with the decision itself, asks what information and judgement it needs, and then assigns each part to the right tool: rules for policy, predictive models for likelihoods, and language models for reading documents or explaining results.
Can you add AI to our existing rules engine?
Yes, and this is where we usually start, whether you run IBM ODM or another platform. Your rules stay in charge of policy. We add models that feed scores into the rules, assistants that let analysts ask questions of the rule repository, and explanations generated from the decision trace.
Do we need to replace our rules engine?
Rarely. Most organizations get more value from consolidating and modernizing the rule estate they already have. If a replacement does make sense, we will show you the cost and the risk before you commit.
Start with one decision.
Pick the decision that costs you the most when it goes wrong. We will show you what an explainable, AI-assisted version of it looks like.
